The ingredients needed to make Mushroom Black Pepper Gravy:
  1. Make ready 1 onion
  2. Take 1/2 cup mushrooms sliced
  3. Take 1 bay leaf
  4. Take 2 tbsp butter
  5. Prepare 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  6. Take 3 tbsp flour
  7. Make ready 500 ml milk
  8. Prepare 1 bouillon cube (chicken/beef/pork/vegetable)
  9. Prepare 1 tbsp soy sauce
  10. Prepare 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  11. Prepare A few dashes Worcestershire sauce
  12. Get to taste Salt & pepper
  13. Take to taste Water

Instructions to make Mushroom Black Pepper Gravy:
  1. Sauté onions and bay leaf in butter and vegetable oil on medium heat until soft. If you prefer a sweeter taste, sauté until the onions are lightly browned. Add mushrooms and sauté until mushrooms are cooked. If you have any pan juices from cooking a roast/frying a piece of meat, you can add it here.
  2. Add flour in and immediately stir to make sure there are no lumps. Keep stirring and cook flour for approximately 1 minute.
  3. Turn heat to low and add in bouillon cube and about 1/4 cup of the milk and stir well, making sure there are no lumps. Gradually add the rest of the milk until it is well combined.
  4. Add soy sauces, pepper and salt to taste. Stir the sauce frequently to make sure that the mixture doesn’t boil. Adjust seasoning & add water if the mixture is too thick.
